Tax Project 17: Switzerland starts the consultation

After the rejection of Reform III of Swiss companies taxation, the Federal Council, in order to improve the Swiss economy, has started the consultation process on the Tax Project 17 which has a number of advantages to companies operating in Switzerland.

In fact, current corporate taxation no longer meets international standards. This has a negative impact on the Swiss economic market.

The Tax Reform is therefore a necessary tool for maintaining international tax competition. In particular:

-          the introduction in all cantons of a Patent Box whereby the net profit from patents and similar rights is subject to a reduced tax reduced to 90%;

-          the introduction of new forms of deduction from the taxable income of research and development activities;

-          the annulment of the rules applicable to companies with a Special Cantonal Statute, which will allow Switzerland to get out of the Italian DM blacklist of 21 November 2001;

The project therefore contributes decisively to the preservation of Switzerland's economic attractiveness and consequently to create legitimate tax breaks for operating companies.
